Novel Publish Project #2

Failure and sources

20140822_103707_Richtone(HDR)First, right down to my progress. I didn’t make much progress at all. My word count up to now is 23, 878 up just a tad from last weeks 22,497. A little over a thousand words in the past week which is disappointing. The progress I made was the result of one good writing session and one very short session. The day job kinda kicked my butt this week leaving me feeling exhausted at the end of everyday. Not much of an excuse but the one I used to keep from writing. I need to put a stop to that crap.

What else am I working on?

Well, I am getting things set up for a mailing list. This isn’t really that hard. There are plenty of sites that offer this feature and they’ve made it user friendly. I’ve decided to write a serial story for my mailing list that will be exclusive to said list. I already have some ideas up ion my white board. Where I am having trouble is in getting people to sign up for my list. There is the obvious places start, my friends on social media, but it’s not enough. I need more people to have access to the list and I need to give them a compelling reason.

As I said before I am learning about marketing and I’m going to share what I learn. First I want to let you know where I get some of my information. I listen to a variety of podcasts and some of their content, or all depending on the podcast, pertains to marketing. So I will list all those I am currently listening to and link the website for each as well.

The Dead Robots Society

The Creative Penn

Self Publishing Podcast

Rocking Self Publishing Podcast

The Sell More Books show

That’s a bigger list than I thought it would be. It helps that my daily commute is two hours. Lots fo time for listening and learning.

That’s all for this week. Please feel free to jump down to the comments section and beat me up for not writing more, that would be appreciated.

Till next week, have a great week and make sure you tell the people close to you that you love them. It’s important.
